The Impact of Volleyball Spike and Defense
Training on Defense Anticipation Ability

Defense is an essential skill for volleyball players, with anticipation playing a pivotal role in its successful execution. Anticipation ability, which involves predicting the trajectory and timing of the opponent's attacks, is paramount for effective defense.

While it is acknowledged that both perceptual experience and motor experience contribute to anticipation, empirical evidence regarding the efficacy of specific training methods remains limited.

Thus, this study aims to investigate the impact of perceptual and motor training on volleyball players' performance in anticipation, particularly in the context of digging.

Traditionally, action anticipation ability has been evaluated using temporal or spatial occlusion paradigms, which may limit the perception of the action.

To address this, we employed a filmed-based reaction time paradigm, ensuring ecological validity in our assessment of anticipation ability.

Through this research, we aim to provide insights into effective training strategies for enhancing volleyball players' anticipation skills, thereby improving their overall defensive performance on the court.

The impact of game score and pitcher handedness
on batting decisions in baseball players.

Observing the initial movement of a pitcher, skilled batters demonstrate a heightened ability to accurately anticipate the outcome of the pitch compared to their less-skilled counterparts.

While various types of contextual information have been identified to influence action anticipation in numerous sports, such as the movement of the opposing team or the positioning of players, the impact of game score on anticipation remains unclear. Additionally, despite left-handers showing advantages in certain sports, the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying these advantages are not well understood.

Thus, this study aims to investigate the effect of contextual information, specifically game score, on the anticipation of swinging decisions in response to pitches thrown by both left- and right-handed pitchers among baseball batters.

Through this research, we seek to shed light on the role of game score and handedness in anticipation abilities, providing insights into cognitive processes involved in baseball batting performance.

Relationship between the resting-state EEG brain oscillations and archery shooting performance

Previous studies have demonstrated that resting-state brain oscillations prior to exercise can serve as indicators of sporting performance, as seen in disciplines such as shooting and karate.

However, much of this research has been conducted using data from single resting-state sessions, typically with participants either having their eyes open or closed.

To address these limitations, this study recruited an elite archer and conducted multiple sessions of resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) recordings under both eyes open and closed conditions.

The aim was to explore the relationship between brain oscillations and subsequent archery shooting performance.

This approach offers a more comprehensive understanding of the neural correlates of sporting skill, contributing to the advancement of research in this field.

Fixing the first bounce in table tennis serve

The length of a serve in volleyball is conventionally dictated by the point of first bounce, wherein a short serve typically bounces closer to the net and a deep serve rebounds nearer to the endline.

Despite top players seemingly minimizing these variances, comprehension of this strategic approach and its impact on serve rotation remains circumscribed. Consequently, this study endeavors to probe into the bounce placement associated with this serving strategy concerning various rotation types, juxtaposed with the conventional serve approach.

The impact of phase duration and its variability on archery shooting performance: a case study

The shooting movement with a recurve bow can be segmented into various phases, encompassing setup, drawing, aiming, clicker reaction time (CRT), and follow-through.

Prior research has underscored the significance of drawing duration, aiming duration, and CRT in shooting performance.

Nevertheless, findings have been incongruent, and other phases have often been overlooked. Hence, the objective of this study is to systematically explore the association between shooting performance and the duration of each phase, alongside its variability.

Performance Analysis of Women’s Epee in the 2017-2019 World Fencing Championships

Various factors can influence the scoring patterns of fencers, including the utilization of techniques across different areas of the piste, various rounds of a match, and the current status (leading, tied, or trailing) of the competition. While performance analyses have been conducted in saber events and time-motion analyses in foil events for women, such investigations have not yet been undertaken in epee events.

In saber events, offensive actions dominate (49%), with the central area of the piste being predominantly utilized (67%). Against this backdrop, the aim of this study is to assess the performance of elite female epee fencers.
